Being the new student at school may seem like the worst experience ever to most kids, but not to 15-year-old sophomore Gladys Garcia. Garcia isn’t a stranger when it comes to moving to different towns or schools. Born on June 21, 2004 in Libertyville, Ill.,  Garcia grew up in Key Largo, Florida for a bit after she was born and continues to move back and forth for both places. Garcia has grown accustomed to moving from place to place. Most recently, Garcia moved to Round Lake from Grant Community High School and she is pretty resilient and finds it easy to make friends in all the places that she has lived. She even manages to stay in contact with them and visit whenever she is on holiday. She keeps to herself when needed, but is able to open up to people once she gets to know people a bit more being the straightforward honest person that she is. Garcia is the second oldest of three siblings. Not a team player when it comes to sports, Garcia enjoys playing an occasional tennis game on her own time, and she also tried out for the baton team at her previous school. Garcia made the team but choose to not go through with it because she considers herself a busy person even with her own job.

Garcia mentions that she likes to help people when she can and this gave her the interest to work in something surrounding psychology. She plans to go to college after high school but doesn’t know which specific college Garcia is looking for. Garcia does mention wanting to move back and actually stay in Florida to pursue her career in psychology. Other than that Garcia is a great addition to  “The Blaize.”
