Going through a hard break up? Mandy is here to help!

Dear Mandy,
How can I deal with a break up, and stay focus?  My heart is broken, and I am sad. What do I do?
-From a Heartbroken Panther

Dear Heartbroken Panther:
Keep your head up! I promise you that you are not the only one that has gone or is going through this. Do not think that it is the end of the world, as there are many solutions to this problem. Some of the solutions you can take are: talking to someone you trust about the issue, maybe take a break from being in a relationship, and keeping a positive mindset throughout to help you overcome this heartbreak.
Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like a riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Einstein was a smart man in many ways, and it’s a good idea to take his advice and keep going forward, despite the pain you might feel. Sometimes we have to experience tough situations so that we can experience great ones. You must push and push to keep going.
One of the many ways you can try and resolve this broken heart is to let everything out with someone you trust. In order for you to stay focused in school, you must let everything out. You can always go to a friend or adult that has your confidence. If you prefer not to talk to one of your closest friends or trusted adult, you can always go to your counselor. Many people believe that counselors are only here to help with students’ schedules and to prepare them for college by asking for plans after graduation every once in a while. But that is wrong! Counselors are also a shoulder to cry on or talk to. Your counselor will never tell anyone your problems. In fact, they will be there to help you solve your problems.
Another way for you to take charge into this situation is to being able to take a break from being in a relationship. By taking a break, I mean stay away from being committed to being in a relationship and have some time for yourself. You are a young teen who should be able to have fun and meet new people. Being in a relationship takes commitment, a real serious commitment. Teens should be able to be free and enjoy their teen years instead of stressing over someone. Sometimes taking a break from relationships is a good thing because you can take some time to think for yourself and get to know what you really want to do with your life.

Lastly, it’s important to keep a positive and clear mindset throughout. Being negative and thinking it is the end of the world will not help you at all and will not take you anywhere. If you have a positive mindset, it will make you believe in yourself and will enable you to show your self-esteem and confidence. If you have the confidence in yourself, it will make you want to look for solutions instead of dwelling in your problems. Having a positive attitude will make you want to better yourself and it will give you the energy you want to do better and focus at school. If you’re positive, then you will most likely find a solution to this break up and will still remain positive without thinking it’s the end of the world. You will also be able to focus in school since you’ll believe in yourself and you’ll want to better yourself as a person. Keep your head held high I am sure you will be able to make it through!
